The first step to get a New York – NYS Security Guard Card is to get certified. Below are the general topic security guard courses online prescribed by the commissioner and supervised by the NYSDCJS as the only certification courses you need to be eligible for the NYSDOS security guard license.

New York State law also dictates that all Armored Car Guard’s must go through an application process which includes among other training 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training , 16 Hour On The Job Training Course and a background fingerprint check before they can be issued a New York State Security Guard’s License.
Annual Security Guard Training Courses
Your security guard license is valid for 2 years, and to be eligible for renewals you are required to take on an annual basis the 8hrs annual in-service course for security guards in New York – NYC.
This is the only way security guards meet compliance and stay eligible to be renewed after 2 years.
